Global Coordinator of the Portugal INCoDe.2030 Initiative
Pedro Guedes de Oliveira was born in Porto, and got his degree in electrical engineering at FEUP and his PhD at the University of Aveiro, where he was a professor until 1993. Since then and until his retirement in 2015, he was a professor at the EEC department of FEUP.
He had several positions at the U.Porto, namely as head of the EEC department between 2010 and 2015, as an elected member of the first General Council of U.Porto and successively as an elected member of the Scientific Council of FEUP.
Since 1991 he is a member of the executive board of INESC and he was the first president of INESC Porto since its foundation, in 1998 until 2005.
Along the years he took several public jobs, namely as a non-executive member of the board of Innovation Agency (AdI) between 2005 and 2008, and as a member of the executive board of the Foundation for Scientific Computation (FCCN) between 2008 and 2013. He was also a member of the Scientific Council of FCT for Sciences and Engineering, from 2009 and 2012.
At present he is Professor Emeritus at U.Porto and coordinator of the National Initiative for Digital Skills 2030, known as INCoDe.2030
